The Easiest Thing in the World, Photography and Integrated Media, 2021

“Everybody that I’ve met wanted the same 3 things: they wanted to be loved and accepted, they wanted to be listened to and heard, and they wanted to be acknowledged and validated. So when I realized that, I realized I could do that for people, that’s the easiest thing in the world.” – Daniel Bruce Levin

Well there you have it. The easiest thing in the world. I made this mixed media piece hoping that at least one other person would reflect upon it and internally carry it with them. When I first heard Daniel Levin on Lighting the Void, his message and empathy deeply resinated with me. It is one of my favorite episodes, and I have been mindful about integrating the topics from his book, The Mosaic, into my actions.

I chose to weave Daniel’s words into one of my photographs to further emphasize the concept of how much we are all truly connected to each other and the world around us. We inherently need both human beings and Mother Nature to survive. Why, then, are we jerks to both???? Image if everyone and everything was loved and accepted, listened to and heard, and acknowledged and validated??? The world would be great! The Taliban wouldn’t be making 12-year-old girls sex slaves! The CCP wouldn’t love forced labor camps! And Pfizer DEFINITELY wouldn’t be making billions of dollars for the foreseeable future!

If you are reading this right now, please take Daniel Levin’s words with you. Try to make the world a better place. She doesn’t need any more scars.

Daniel Bruce Levin is the author of the book The Mosaic – a powerful metaphor that speaks to the human condition along the journey of self-awakening. Also, podcaster, speaker, and storyteller, Daniel’s journey continues to unfold with each conversation and interaction which life brings.
