Giles Corey died at 81 years old in Salem, Massachusetts on September 19, 1692 from pressing. Pressing was a punishment for those who refused to enter a plea of guilty or not guilty in court. Giles Corey was arrested after several pre-teen children accused him of practicing witchcraft against them. In court, Giles had his hands tied after the girls accused him of afflicting them with fits.
